Autism
Autism can manifest in a variety of ways. That said, it doesn’t have to be a negative force in someone’s life with the right support and intervention. Atlanta Specialized Care is proud to offer comprehensive care for those struggling with those who are on the autism spectrum, providing individualized treatment and specialized attention throughout their journey to a more capable life.
What is Autism?
Autism, also known as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder that affects how individuals interact with their environment and communicate with others. It is typically characterized by difficulty in understanding social cues, performing repetitive behaviors, and difficulties with communication.
Individuals with autism often have difficulties making sense of the world around them, as well as interactions with other people. People on the spectrum may experience sensory overload or under-responsiveness, an inability to understand facial expressions or body language, difficulty expressing emotions or understanding another person’s feelings, and difficulty forming relationships.
Although there is no cure for autism spectrum disorder, early intervention can be effective in helping kids learn skills that will improve functioning and help them lead a more independent life.
Autism Symptoms
Symptoms of autism spectrum disorder vary greatly from person to person both in nature and severity. Those who experience mild symptoms of autism may find they are able to navigate through life effectively, while those with more severe symptoms may need extra support to get through their everyday lives.
