Payment and Insurance Information
At Atlanta Specialized Care, we are a private pay practice, which means payment is due in full at the time of your appointment.
While we are not in-network with insurance companies, we’re happy to provide you with a detailed “super bill” to help you file for out-of-network reimbursement, depending on your plan’s benefits.
We also accept payments through Health Savings Accounts (HSA), making it easier to use pre-tax dollars for your care. Our goal is to support you in getting the help you need while navigating the financial aspects as smoothly as possible.

The Benefits of Self Pay Therapy
Deciding between self-pay therapy and using your insurance can be complex. At Atlanta Specialized Care, we aim to help you make informed decisions that best suit your therapeutic and financial needs. Let's explore the benefits of self-pay therapy versus insurance-based therapy, emphasizing confidentiality, flexibility, control, and cost considerations.
One of the primary reasons individuals opt for self-pay therapy benefits is enhanced confidentiality. When utilizing insurance, therapists must share sensitive information such as diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress notes with your insurance provider. This information becomes part of your permanent medical record, potentially accessible by other medical providers and even future employers.
Self-pay ensures your therapy sessions remain entirely private, offering greater peace of mind for those prioritizing discretion.
Many highly skilled and specialized therapists, including those at Atlanta Specialized Care, prefer self-pay arrangements. This preference allows therapists to spend more time and resources honing their expertise without the administrative burden of insurance constraints. When you choose self-pay, you have unrestricted access to therapists best suited to your individual needs.
Insurance coverage usually requires therapists to assign a mental health diagnosis. However, not everyone seeking therapy meets the specific criteria for a mental health condition, and others prefer to avoid having such labels in their medical history. With self-pay therapy, you can receive personalized care without mandatory diagnoses, ensuring therapy focuses solely on your individual growth, support, and mental wellness.
Insurance providers often dictate the terms of therapy—where it can happen, how long sessions are, and even how many sessions are allowed. Self-pay offers flexibility in multiple dimensions:
- Session Formats: Enjoy longer sessions, online therapy, or even innovative approaches like walking therapy.
- Family Involvement: Involve spouses, partners, or family members without restrictions.
- Frequency of Sessions: Schedule sessions based on your needs rather than insurance mandates.
This flexibility allows for more customized, responsive care tailored specifically to you.
While many assume self-pay therapy is more expensive, several scenarios reveal how it can actually save money. For example, with High Deductible Health Plans (HDHPs), if your deductible is substantial and has not been met, self-pay therapy rates may be lower than the rates negotiated through insurance.
