Katie Kearney
Counseling Intern & Clinical Therapist
Katie Kearney is a counseling intern and graduate student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Mercer University, where she is pursuing a degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is a member of Chi Sigma Iota, the international counseling honor society. Katie brings a diverse background in leadership, community engagement, and trauma-informed care to her counseling work.
In 2025, she participated in a trauma narrative recovery program through Mercer on Mission in Rwanda, where she assisted in the facilitation of group therapy focused on helping individuals process and integrate traumatic experiences through storytelling.
Katie’s counseling approach is grounded in humanistic and person-centered principles, supporting clients in developing self-awareness, resilience, and balanced thinking. She is passionate about working with individuals navigating a range of mental health challenges, including life transitions, depression, self-image and self-esteem concerns, emotional disconnection, and perfectionism.
As a lifelong competitive horseback rider, including competing for the University of Kentucky, Katie is particularly drawn to supporting athletes as they manage the psychological pressures of sport, such as performance anxiety, burnout, and high-performance stress, as well as supporting their spouses in navigating the ripple effects these challenges can create.
